Singapore Ministry of Health has secured one million doses of H1N1 vaccine. Currently Singapore MOH has received 250,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine, while the full delivery expected at the end of the year. The total amount is more than the usual seasonal flu demand of 400,000 doses. There should be enough vaccine for all who need it. If more is needed, MOH will increase the order.
"We encourage all who are interested to get a flu jab to register with Pandemic Preparedness Clinics (PPCs) or clinic if they want to be first in line to be vaccinated. Vaccine will be available to all GP clinics, too. The community must call the clinic before going to the vaccination. "
MOH has invited all the clinics for vaccine reservation through appointed distributors. Department of Health is to set up this command and has started to distribute the vaccine to the clinic in accordance with their orders placed. Meanwhile, the clinic can keep a list of all who are interested in taking the jab, and information to patients when the supply of the vaccination schedule and the appropriate time. If supply exceeds demand immediate early, priority will be given to their higher risk of developing complications of influenza H1N1.
Dr Keiji Fukuda, Special Adviser World Health Organization (WHO), gives a press conference on 06 November. From various highlights, he mentioned that the WHO has found a pandemic vaccine is safe and nothing appeared unusual side effects.
